Sri Lanka defeated England in a high scoring game and kept alive their hopes in the tournament.

The island nation was chasing 294 runs to win and they scored 297 runs in just 47.1 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

It was a chase that was primarily dominated by Kumar Sangakkara.

He scored 134 runs in 135 balls with the help of 12 fours to play the anchor innings in the win and remained not out until he saw his team home.

He was given good company by Dilshan, who scored 44 runs.

Another partnership came in the form of Jayawardene when the two former captains put 85 runs.

But the icing on the cake came when Sri Lanka sent a bowler like Nuwan Kulasekara ahead of the dependable batsmen like Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews and the move paid off.

Kulasekara played a came  innings of 58 runs in 38 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes to give Sri Lanka a key win.
