India’s leading automobile firm, Mahindra and Mahindra has launched Quanto, its new Sports Utility Vehicle, in India on Thursday.
The Quanto is one of the smallest SUVs in the country, a sub-four metre car, powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine, churning out a peak power of 100 bhp with a maximum torque of 240 Nm. It has a mileage of 17.2 km/litre, which is certified by the ARAI. It is built on a body-on-ladder borrowed from the Xylo MPV.
The Quanto will be available in 4 variants and prices ranging from Rs 5.82 lakh and Rs. 7.36 lakh, as follows:
M&M Quanto C2 – Rs 5.82 lakh
M&M Quanto C4 – Rs 6.35 lakh
M&M Quanto C6 – Rs 6.86 lakh
M&M Quanto C8 – Rs 7.36 lakh
The Quanto C2 fits right into the B+ segment along with Maruti Swift, Ford Figo and Hyundai i20, falling in the compact SUV category.
The Quanto engine is derived from the M2Di, except that it has three cylinders. Quanto is launched one year after the XUV500 which was highly successful, giving huge volumes.
The Quanto will compete with Maruti Swift and Ritz in terms of pricing. It is a best buy for customers who are in the lookout for a diesel hatchback and entry level diesel sedans.
