Independence Day Speech was delivered by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Red Fort today the 15th August. Starting at 6:30 AM the Prime Minister came down today to the Red Fort to first finish the inspection of the armed forces. While the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh walked down the red carpet the story about the Red Fort was narrated. The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh then went on to hoist the national flag of India as the National Anthem of India was being played by the traditional band.
Then the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addressed the nation with a long speech. The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's speech talked about various issues which included the economy, price hike, security of the nation, and surprisingly even about the Lokpal Bill. The Prime Minister even talked about issues facing budget as well as poverty and what needs to be done towards the development of the nation.
There were thousands of people including school children present at the Red Fort to witness the ceremony in spite of heavy rains. It was quite a sight to watch the soldiers stand out there in the cold rain without twitching or even showing the slighest of discomfort.
