The incumbent President of India Pratibha Devi Patil will be stepping down from her office during July, 2012 on completing her term in office. The race has begun for filling up the hallowed office of the President of India.
There are quite a few names making rounds. But the front runner seems to be APJ Abdul Kalam. Mulayam Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party has already announced his name while NCP supremo Sharad Pawar seems to be hinting at it.
As the Congress does not have the required stength electorate for nominating its own candidate for the post of President of India, they have to take along all the UPA member parties and friendly parties. The better option is to nominate a consensus candidate. APJ Abdul Kalam has all the qualities to be the consensus candidate.
If that happens, APJ Abdul Kalam will be creating history by getting nominated to highest office of the country for the second time after the lapse of a term of office.
APJ Abdul Kalam is one of the most respected personalities in the country apart being a highly valued scientist across the globe.
