Kamal Haasan made his film debut as a four-year-old child artist in director A. Bhimsingh’s Kalathur Kannamma and won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

Kamal’s started his mature filmy career in the Maanavan where he appeared only in a dance sequence. He got his first Filmfare Award for his first Malyalam debut film Kanyakumari (1974).  The film has also won the National Film Award in Tamil.

After this, Haasan never stopped and gave many hits to Tamil cinema.

In year 1976, Kamal received his second regional Filmfare (Tamil) Best Actor Award for the movie Manmadha Leelai. For the movie 16 Vayathinile, Kamal Haasan received his third best actor award.

 In 1978, Kamal Haasan played a role of psychopathic sexual Killer in the movie Sigappu Rojakkal and won his fourth consecutive award.

In 1980, Kamal made his Bollywood debut with movie Ek Duuje Ke Liye. Haasan played a role of an amnesia patient and won his first of three National Awards for Best Actor. Kamal Haasan got his first Nandi Award for Best Actor and second Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award for the film Sagara Sangamam.

In 1985, Kamal Haasan appeared in the movie Saagar opposite Rishi Kapoor and awarded by Filmfare Best Actor Award. Kamal Haasan’s other hits like Swathi Muthyam (Nandi Award for Best Actor), Nayagan (National Film Award for Best Actor), Pushpak, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Indian and many more.

Kamal Haasan started his first directorial venture Marudhanayagam and his second directorial drama Hey Ram was praised by critics and he won the best Tamil actor award at the Filmfare function.  

Kamal Haasan directed his third feature film in Virumaandi, a film about the death penalty which won the Best Asian Film award at Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival.

Year 2008, Kamal signed K.S. Ravikumar’s Dasavathaaram alongside Asin. In the movie he appeared in ten distinct roles and received many good compliments for his best performance in the movie. Kamal Haasan was honored by Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for the film Dasavathaaram.

Apart from his acting career, Kamal Haasan also participated in the social welfare organization like Child and drug abuse and the Kashmir conflict.

Kamal Haasan is a great person of film Industry. In an interview Kamal had said, "People say you should approach every film as your first film, but I put in the effort as if it were my last film!"

Recently, his original name was revealed in a Tamil game show Neengalum Vellallam Oru kodi as Parthasarathy, hosted by actor Surya.
