Virender Sehwag became highest run score(219 runs from 149 balls) record holder in a One day International match and broke the Sachin Tendulkar's record of double century(200 runs not out) in One day International matches. Elite batsman Virender Sehwag, while reacting on his record of double century at the Indore stadium, said that he was not expecting to hit double century(219 runs from 149 balls). Virender Sehwag said the thought of double century crossed his mind only after the start of the second batting power play.
Virender Sehwag created a history in the one day international cricket by scoring 219 runs consuming only 149 balls, in the 4th ODI against West Indies at Indore's Holkar stadium. It helped India take a 3-1 lead in 5 one day international matches series. Virender Sehwag told Gautam Gambhir before the start of the match that if some patience is shown India would be in for a big score as the outfield was fantastic and the boundary line was only 50 mtrs away.
By this record creating effort, Virender Sehwag has erased the poor run scores he had in the first three matches of the ODI series and walked what he talked earlier – the top-order batsmen should take the responsibility and have to contribute in order that the middle-order can build upon that foundation.
Sehwag also thanked his family and his innumerable fans for the support given to him.
